Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu arrived at the state Assembly on Wednesday with the Budget 2025-26 documents, following prayers at his residence in Praja Bhavan.

Before presenting the budget, Bhatti Vikramarka received a warm welcome from Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and other leaders. Legislative Affairs Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu also congratulated him in the Assembly hall.

Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made a significant announcement regarding Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservations in the state. He revealed that the OBC population in Telangana stands at 56.36% and affirmed the government’s decision to implement 42% reservations for the group across education, employment, and political representation.

Taking to social media platform X, CM Reddy declared, “Telangana is proud to lead the social revolution in India. The long-standing demand of backward castes to be officially counted and recognized has finally been fulfilled.”

He emphasized that the reservation enhancement aligns with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s promise before the elections. The state government launched a BC caste census on February 4, 2024, and based on its findings, the previous proposal of 37% reservation for BCs is being withdrawn in favor of a revised 42% quota.

CM Reddy also called for a meeting with leaders from various political parties, including Congress, BRS, BJP, AIMIM, and CPI, to seek the central government’s support for the proposal.
